High Voltage (1976): The Spark That Started It All
This is the album that introduced AC/DC to the world. Released internationally in 1976, High Voltage captures the raw, hungry energy of a young band ready to conquer the globe. While the band had already released two albums in Australia, this international compilation combined the best tracks from those early records to create a perfect debut statement.
The album laid down the blueprint for everything that would follow. It features the raw blues influence of the Young brothers' guitars, Phil Rudd's no-nonsense drumming, and the charismatic, street-wise swagger of Bon Scott.
From the iconic opening bagpipes of “It’s a Long Way to the Top” to the slow-burning blues of “The Jack” and the explosive title track, High Voltage proved that rock 'n' roll didn't need to be complicated to be powerful. It remains a snapshot of a legendary band in its purest form.
