Brian Johnson: The Voice of Thunder

Stepping into the shoes of a legend is never easy, but Brian Johnson achieved the impossible. Joining AC/DC in 1980 following the tragic passing of original frontman Bon Scott, the Gateshead-born singer didn’t just fill the void—he helped propel the band to stratospheric new heights.

Johnson’s impact was immediate. His debut with the band, the monumental Back in Black, became the second-best-selling album in music history. With a vocal style often described as "shredded razor wire," he brought a raw, gritty power that perfectly complemented Angus Young’s driving riffs.

Instantly recognizable by his signature flat cap and his powerful stage presence, Johnson is the voice behind rock anthems like “Hells Bells,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” and “For Those About to Rock.”

Beyond the music, Johnson is admired for his resilience and down-to-earth personality. Despite facing severe hearing loss in 2016 that forced a temporary retirement, he made a triumphant return for the band’s 2020 album Power Up. Today, Brian Johnson remains one of the most charismatic and beloved figures in rock history.
